1980  James Oerding, certified travel specialist and chair of Escapes Unlimited in Greencastle, Penn., was selected to be included in the 2002 edition of Who's Who in the World.

1981  Kenneth Babcock, J.D., executive director and general counsel of the Public Law Center in Santa Ana, was named a distinguished alumnus by the UC Davis School of Law. Babcock himself represents or finds volunteer lawyers to represent hundreds of indigent victims of consumer scams each year.    Richard Kantola, M.S., had his novel Summer River published in August by 1stBooks.com. The book is set on a fictional river in Northern California. Kantola lives in Sacramento with his wife and two daughters.

1982  Kenneth Holbert, M.D., is now regional medical director of Southeastern Tennessee for Team Health. Team Health provides physicians for emergency department, radiology, anesthesia, pediatric and critical care services to over 350 hospitals and other healthcare facilities in 30 states. Holbert lives in Smyrna, Tenn.    David Kendall of Beloit, Wis., was appointed executive secretary of the American Milking Shorthorn Society. In recognition of the appointment, he was presented a Cal Aggie license plate frame by former society executive secretaries Bradford Ellsworth '61 and Stuart Rowe '54. The society is believed to be the only dairy breed registry association that has had three executive secretaries who graduated from the same university.    Allison Subasic, former coordinator of the UC Davis Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center, has joined Penn State University where she will establish and run a LGBT resource center.

1983  Former UC Davis and New York Jets quarterback Ken O'Brien was selected for induction into the Division II Football Hall of Fame. O'Brien, the Jets No. 1 pick in 1983, played 10 seasons with the team and was selected to play in two Pro Bowls.    Gordon Pennock, Ph.D., associate professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue University, was named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for his contributions to the field.

1984  Ronald Harris was appointed assistant vice president for diversity at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. Harris, who received an M.D. degree from UC San Francisco, is also an assistant professor of dermatology and adjunct assistant professor of pathology at the university's School of Medicine.

1985  Christine (Wall) Freeman earned a master's degree in library and information science in 2000 and is now managing the archives at Pixar Animation Studios.
